4-8 p.m. ART LAB: THE CITY NEVER SLEEPS
Art Gallery Pure, Booth 306
Inspired by apprenticing at a tailoring shop in his teen years, many of Hunter Connor’s paintings are inspired by clothing design. Working mainly with mixed media, his paintings are rich in color and texture, imitating the textiles and cuts found in high end fashion. The clash of the strictness of the figures against an atmospheric background gives the viewer a focal point in the artwork they are viewing. Every painting has its own personality that is unified through the techniques that Connor uses in all his artwork. Hunter will be creating live in the booth Thursday through Saturday.
4-8 p.m. ART LAB: FOR THE CHILDREN OF UKRAINE
Sammoun Fine Art, Booth 130
Watch renowned artist Samir Sammoun paint one of his iconic images throughout the fair. The 24″ x 36″ original will be available for sale as a one-of-a kind, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the children of Ukraine through UNICEF. At his very first Artexpo New York in 1996, Samir Sammoun’s originality and unique style caught the attention of viewers, gallerists, collectors, and art lovers. His new “Wheat Fields” is being created on-site for a wonderful cause.
4-8 p.m. ART LAB: SUPER 80s
K – Art Projects USA, Booth 201
This engaging series reaches back to artist Andre Croteu’s early days as a fashion designer in New York’s Soho district. The series of eight 20″ x 20″ originals explores 80s supermodel pop culture combined alongside the artist’s fascination with textile, color, and reflected light, composing his works with resin, metal and acrylic pigments with sublimation printing.
