PENDA CISSE

MOJJERE: Sharing the Language of Beauty
There is a certain elegance in objects that do more than simply adorn a table. In the world of Penda Cisse, founder of MOJJERE, design becomes a language of memory, heritage and quiet magnificence: a way of telling stories that move gracefully between continents and cultures. A Franco-Senegalese entrepreneur born and raised in Paris, with roots in Senegal, Penda has built a career shaped by international experience and a deepening relationship with heritage. Her work sits at the intersection of art de vivre, contemporary design and cultural storytelling, bringing an assured and deeply personal perspective to the world of refined interiors.

MOJJERE, the contemporary art de vivre brand she founded, celebrates African and Afro-descendant cultures through tableware and decorative objects. Its name, taken from the Fulani word for “goodness”, speaks softly yet powerfully to the spirit of the brand: beauty with meaning, and objects with souls, created to endure beyond the moment. From Dakar to London, MOJJERE brings together craftsmanship and symbolism in pieces designed not only for the table, but for the rituals that gather around it. Through MOJJERE, Penda reinterprets African visual languages and ancestral symbols through contemporary porcelain, glassware and decorative objects, creating refined pieces for modern interiors. The result is a distinctive dialogue between cultural identity, European savoir-faire and contemporary design sensibility – an aesthetic that is at once elegant, symbolic and unmistakably rooted.

Penda’s own journey has been as international as the world she creates through MOJJERE. A graduate of EDHEC Grande École in France, she began her career between the United States and Canada, working in marketing within the drinks and beauty industries for Pernod Ricard and LVMH. She later spent nearly a decade living and working in Côte d’Ivoire, a country of deep personal significance and creative inspiration, where she founded a modern luxury communications agency.

That Ivorian chapter would prove profoundly formative, shaping her understanding of creativity, art de vivre, contemporary African art and the role of brands in celebrating the continent’s modern cultures. It gave further depth to a vision already rooted in movement, belonging and cultural plurality – a vision that now finds its fullest expression through MOJJERE.
Today, through MOJJERE, Penda Cisse is shaping a distinctive new vision of luxury: elegant, culturally rooted and rich with meaning. Her work invites audiences to experience Africa and its diasporas as timeless sources of inspiration, while honouring craftsmanship, symbolism and beauty within contemporary interiors.
