NEW EXHIBITORS: THE NEXT GENERATION

PAD London is thrilled to welcome 11 exciting new galleries led by bold young dealers energising the design world through their fresh perspective and playful new modes of storytelling. These dynamic new talents assert PAD London’s unwavering commitment to fostering and promoting the prolific evolution of design in all its forms.
This year, PAD London welcomes its first-ever participant from the Middle East, PIK’D (Beirut) which champions unique ceramic and glass pieces by Lebanese and international designers. Dedicated to unique handcrafted contemporary and historical objects, NM Art & Design (Limassol) will be the first exhibitor from Cyprus to take part in the fair. True to its mission to expand the conversation in design and explore perspectives that have previously been marginalized, Friedman Benda (New York, Los Angles, Paris) will join with an impressive roster of international creatives whose mischievous, playful pieces reassess the role that objects play in our daily lives. Highlights include captivating pieces by French-Lebanese maker Najla El Zein, Mexican designer Fernando Laposse, American creator Misha Kahn, and the celebrated British designer Faye Toogood.

In collaboration with scenographers Cyrille Van Dievoet and Hugo Travaux, Pulp Galerie (Paris) will dedicate a monographic presentation to the multi-faceted Italian artist Gaetano Pesce. On this occasion, rediscovered rare and pivotal works hailing from prestigious private collections will be exhibited.
Founded by Jonathan Haddad and David Atlan, Sceners Gallery (Paris) will create an unprecedented dialogue through abstraction between an intricate, luxurious, wooden console with bone inlay by iconic designer and artisan Carlo Bugatti and a dazzling abstract painting by French painter Jean Degofex.
Galerie Rinck (Paris) has collaborated with the British design studio and gallery The Guild of Saint Luke (London) to create a magnificent immersive display celebrating Rinck’s extraordinary legacy and craftsmanship as well as the enduring appeal of Art Deco. Eight newly renovated Art Deco furniture pieces designed by Eugène Rinck in 1931 will be showcased alongside contemporary reinterpretations by The Guild of Saint Luke. Composed of black burl and milled stainless steel, these modern entities will act as brooding, decadent counterparts to the warm tones of the originals. In a striking tête-à-tête, Galerie Mathivet (Paris) has partnered with returning exhibitor Giulia de Jonckheere Design (Brussels) to present two distinct yet complementary visions of design. Mathivet will showcase outstanding works by acclaimed French Art Deco makers, including an extremely rare sconce by Alberto Giacometti, juxtaposed with contemporary works by acclaimed contemporary designer Franck Evennou. Simultaneously, de Jonckheere will focus on post-war Italian and American design.
Booroom (Dubai) will premiere designs that combine respect for natural materials and astonishing technical skills, including a specially-commissioned bookshelf by José Zanine Caldas that will be available on the market for the first time. Meanwhile, new historical design exhibitor Zigzag Modern (Tetbury) will feature eye-catching furniture pieces from Georges Nakashima’s studio, Alvar Aalto, Gerrit Rietveld, Poul Henningsen, Harry Bertoia, and Gino Sarfatti.
Enriching this impressive selection of new galleries are two high-jewellery exhibitors. Since founding his eponymous brand in 2011, Fernando Jorge (London, New York, São Paulo) has swiftly gained international recognition for his emblematic style which blends Brazil’s sensuality and vibrant warmth with the refinement and rebellious spirit of British style. Second Pétale (Paris) will unveil a selection of emerging and established contemporary jewellery designers in a spectacular lighting installation conceived by French artist Odile Soudant.

CONTEMPORARY DESIGN EXHIBITORS

Ernst Gamperl, Untitled (Sarah Myerscough Gallery) and Jesse Schlesinger, c.o. II (Gallery FUMI)

World-class contemporary design galleries will return to PAD London with a strong line-up of international creatives, many of whom will present ground-breaking pieces that combine masterful craftsmanship with invention and pioneering concepts.
Among the notable participants, Gallery FUMI (London) will unveil an ingenious series of functional ceramic chairs by Max Lamb in collaboration with 1882 Ltd., a contemporary ceramics factory based in Stoke-on-Trent. Embodying the innovative spirit of both Lamb and 1882 Ltd., these objects challenge the conventional perception of ceramics as delicate and unsuitable for furniture. Additionally, the gallery will premiere a new design piece by their latest representation, the San Francisco artist Jesse Schlesinger.
Dedicated to the exquisite bronze lights by Bulgarian artist and set designer Vladimir Slavov, the immersive display by Objects With Narratives (Brussels) will allow visitors to discover Slavov’s research on the interaction between shape and light, and the impact they have on their surrounding environment.
Sarah Myerscough Gallery (London) will present a rich panorama of acclaimed global artists, including Ernst Gamperl whose new series of prodigious wooden vessels incorporate the gallery’s ethos to preserve craft-making traditions whilst championing innovation. This year, Nilufar Gallery (Milan) will stage two evocative displays. The first will offer a compelling narrative of design’s evolution through a selection of visionary designers, from masters such as Walter & Moretti to contemporary creations epitomizing modern aesthetics by the likes of Flavie Audi. The second will unveil the latest collection by Delhi-based star designer Vikram Goyal, where cultural heritage and contemporary sensibilities merge in a sophisticated exploration of artisanal craftsmanship.
In a beguiling display, Adrian Sassoon (London) will showcase novel pieces made from fascinating craft techniques, from a luxurious and alluring diptych by Sophie Coryndon’s to a captivating intricate forged fine silver work by Junko Mori. Meanwhile, Æquō (Mumbai) continues its collaboration with international designers to spotlight India’s outstanding craftsmanship. Highlights will include eight sculptural furniture pieces by Frédéric Imbert crafted from the fusion of two ancestral Indian metalcasting techniques: lost-wax and sand-casting.

For the ten-year anniversary of his brand, visionary French designer Elie Top (Paris) will present the collection Liaisons Dangereuses that revisits the Age of Enlightenment through diamonds he discovered during his voyage to the island of Cythera in Greece. These ancient gems are sought-after for their imperfect, hand-cut shapes, which gives them a distinct seductive and moving brilliance. Reshaping our perception of jewellery, Karry Berreby (Paris) will showcase exceptional vintage pieces from the 1970s, featuring iconic Tubogas Bracelets by Bulgari which have become synonymous with innovation and timeless elegance. Meanwhile, fourth-generation run family jeweller Hemmerle (Munich) will present one-of-a-kind creations juxtaposing intriguing stones and found objects with unusual metals and woods.
