What’s the ultimate present for a car-lover? A watch to match their car, of course! Look no further as Bugatti and Swiss watchmaker Jacob & Co. have partnered up again to bring out another masterpiece: the Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon.
The Bugatti watch comes complete with a miniature W16 engine, and if that didn’t quite do it to impress you, it also houses an astounding 578 inner pieces, a sapphire crystal, four shock absorbers, and tiny moving pistons, amongst other incredible trappings.
All you have to do is dish out $280,000. Gulp.
The miniature W16 motor actually functions and moves as it sits beneath a sizable blue sapphire crystal. The motor is also suspended by four “shock absorbers.” If you push down the right-hand crown, the turbos kick-off, the crankshaft turns over, and the mini pistons pump up and down. It’s truly a sight for sore eyes, all encased in a wrist-sized contraption.
Moreover, there’s a functioning “fuel reserve” that keeps the watch’s 60-hour battery life in check.
Jacob & Co. is the talented watchmaker behind this spectacular creation, and it took them over a year to create the 578 inner pieces of the watch. The tiny engine lives within a lightweight blackened titanium case that’s 54 by 44 millimeters, which all sits over a rubber strap with titanium buckle.
This isn’t the first partnership between Jacob & Co. and the iconic Bugatti brand. Both brands’ previous Twin Turbo Furious and Epic X Chrono watches also have traces of the French carmaker’s DNA in them. However, neither of them is quite close to the standard of the Chiron Tourbillon, nor as pricey.
The new addition costs $280,000, which to owners of a $3 million Bugatti Chiron may seem like pennies, but to us mere mortals is cause for a minor heart attack.
